Wearing face masks will be compulsory of this Tuesday for all people authorized to move outside their homes, public authorities announced Monday.
This measure was taken as part of efforts aimed at stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus, in accordance with the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI regarding ensuring the necessary measures to provide citizens with face masks at a reasonable price and on the basis of article 3 of Law-Decree N° 2.20.292, said a joint statement from the ministries of the Interior, Health, Economy and Industry.
In order to ensure the availability of these masks in sufficient quantities, and as part of the implementation of the high royal instructions, public authorities have mobilized several national manufacturers to supply the national market with these masks, the source pointed out, adding that their sale price is 80 centimes per unit thanks to the support of the Special Fund for the Management of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
In this regard, all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure the sale of face masks in all local shops, the source said.
Wearing a face mask is a duty and an obligation and any offender is liable to the penalties laid down in article 4 of Law Decree N° 2.20.292 which provides for a prison sentence ranging from one to three months or/and a fine between 300 and 1,300 DH.
